Noah Hirschl

As a postdoctoral researcher at USDA ARS’s Food Systems Research Unit in Burlington, Noah’s work focuses on assessing climate change impacts on the Northeast food system.

Noah earned his bachelor’s degree in Development Sociology from Cornell University in 2014 and his master’s and PhD in Sociology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2022. Noah is trained as a demographer and quantitative social scientist. Most recently, he studied food insecurity and social programs as part of the Vermont Foodbank’s Food Security Innovation Lab. As part of the USDA FSRU and the Hub, Noah is excited to work on an updated climate vulnerability assessment and a case study of the impacts of the 2023 floods in Vermont. He lives in rural southern Vermont with his partner, Wynne, and his big dog, Pluto.
