Webinar: Nature-Based & Unconventional Water Management Solutions for Sustainable Agriculture

Please join the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) International Climate Hub from 10:00 – 11:30AM (EDT) on November 8 for an engaging webinar on innovative water management solutions for sustainable agriculture in the context of climate change. This webinar, hosted by USDA in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Global Framework on Water Scarcity in Agriculture (WASAG), will showcase experts and vignettes on nature-based and unconventional approaches, including:

  • Sun and Water: An overview of small-scale solar powered water management systems - Jon Fripp, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS)
  • Improving wildlife habitats surrounding agricultural fields and regenerative farming techniques to improve soil and water quality - Dr. Rebecca Hufft and Larry Vickerman, One World One Water and Denver Botanical Garden
  • International work on guidelines and best practices for water sampling, use, and reuse. - Kruti Ravaliya, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Dr. Eric Stevens, FDA and Co-Alternate Delegate to the Codex Committee on Food Hygiene
  • Water recycling as a resiliency tool and efforts to advance this tool across the United States and globally - Greg Fogel, WateReuse Association

Dr. Peter McCornick, Executive Director of the Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute at the University of Nebraska, will moderate the webinar, which is designed to facilitate international collaboration and knowledge-sharing aligned with WASAG’s strategy and call to action. With moderated Q&A sessions, this is an opportunity to learn about cutting-edge practices, connect with experts and peers, discover new resources, and collaborate to implement sustainable water management worldwide.
