The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Caribbean and International Climate Hubs are pleased to present a 4-part virtual webinar series focused on climate-smart agriculture for the Caribbean region. This series will take place on Tuesday mornings from August 20 to September 24, 2024.

Series Overview

Participants will hear from experts about climate-smart practices, resources, and initiatives tailored to the unique Caribbean region. The series aims to inform and support a continued network of information-sharing among Caribbean farmers, foresters, researchers, and officials facing common climate challenges.

    • International Climate Hub resources, tools, and events – presented by Barbara Bennett, Director of the International Climate Hub

  2. A Presentation of the Caribbean Climate Hub's Climate Adaptation Guides for Tropical Agriculture and Forestry | August 27

    • Overview of the project and its objectives

    • Sector-specific guidelines and tools for climate resilience and adaptation

    • 5-step process to address impacts such as prolonged droughts, temperature rises, and changing rainfall

    • Presented by William Gould, Diana Guzman Colon, Ph.D., and Silmarie Crespo Velez, Agronomist

  3. Caribbean Solutions to Combatting Climate Change | September 10

    • Growing stress-tolerant varieties

    • Working Trees for Small Islands

    • Applying geospatial technologies (AI, drones, etc.)

    • Diversifying practices for profit (aquaponics, shrimp farming, etc.)

    • Additional presenters to be announced
