Intermediary Relending Program

Provides 1% low-interest loans to local intermediaries that re-lend to businesses and for community development projects in rural communities.

Federally-recognized tribes can directly apply. Most applicants are existing lending pools, including Native American Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs). Past year appropriations have included IRP funding that is legislatively mandated to benefit federally recognized Tribes. 

Rural communities depend on natural resources that will be affected by climate change. This program aids to improve economic conditions and create jobs in rural communities which may be necessary if climate change effects the natural resources local economies depend upon.
