Alex is a Research Ecologist with the US Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station’s Maintaining Resilient Dryland Ecosystems Program. Alex earned is PhD in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and his BA in Biology and Environmental Studies from Oberlin College. Before being appointed to serve as Co-Lead of the Southern Plains Climate Hub, Alex was a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Riverside. His research focuses on how disturbances (e.g., drought, wildfire, atmospheric N deposition) affect carbon and nitrogen cycling in dryland ecosystems.
