Ylexia Padilla is a Resource Assistant intern with the USDA Southeast Climate Hub. Ylexia holds a master’s degree in Ecosystem Science & Management and Environmental Justice from the University of Michigan. She also holds a bachelor's degree in Sustainability with minors in Anthropology and Spanish from San Diego State University. During her time in graduate school, she studied the relationships between biodiversity conservation and sustainable livelihoods within agricultural communities in Ecuador and Mexico. Her research interests include agroecology, climate adaptation and resilience, climate equity and conservation ecology. At the Hub, Ylexia is involved in science communication to provide resources to farmers, land managers and foresters to build adaptation and resilience to climate variability and change.
