How are land managers adapting to climate change?
It can be helpful for natural resource managers to see what others are doing in the real world to respond to the impacts of climate change in land management.
Demonstration projects are living examples of how managers have integrated climate considerations into forest management planning and activities. A partner to the Northern Forests Climate Hub, the NIACS Climate Change Response Framework has collected hundreds of real-world demonstrations of climate adaptation in practice. These projects have used the Adaptation Workbook process to intentionally consider climate change and select adaptation responses. Each project uses the partnerships and resources developed through the NIACS Climate Change Response Framework to test new ideas and actions for responding to changing conditions. This gallery of demonstrations describes land management activities across the Midwest and Northeast of various shapes and sizes, that use a variety of adaptation actions to achieve forest management goals.
