Xiaoyu Liang is a Postdoctoral Fellow with the USDA California Climate Hub.
Xiaoyu Liang joined the USDA California Climate Hub in June 2024. Her research focuses on exploring the impacts of climate change on wildfire dynamics, aiming to enhance landscape resilience and community protection against wildfire and climate impacts. Before joining the Climate Hub, Xiaoyu completed her PhD in Geography at The Ohio State University, where she investigated human-wildfire interactions in Alaska. Her work employed machine learning, statistical modeling, and spatial analysis to address challenges posed by intensifying wildfires in boreal and tundra regions. Passionate about environmental justice, Xiaoyu has also engaged in projects examining socioeconomic disparities in exposure to water pollution and the inequities of wildfire mitigation programs, aiming to inform sustainable and equitable management policies.
