Peter Stine

Peter Stine joined the USDA California Climate Hub in July 2024 and is a Project Policy Analyst, focusing on wildlands, wildfire, wildlife, geospatial data, and climate.

Pete has dedicated over 40 years in natural resource science and management, specializing in wildlife ecology and landscape management. Early career work focused on conservation of endangered species with the National Park Service and the Fish and Wildlife Service in California, Florida, Oregon, and Hawaii. The last 20 years of Pete’s career involved a switch to the USDA Forest Service and research and management support in the areas of biogeography, wildlife conservation, and landscape restoration, including almost 20 years with the Pacific Southwest Research Station. After retiring, Pete has continued his work in supporting landscape restoration through several appointments including with the Pacific Southwest Research Station, the Climate and Wildfire Institute, and now with the USDA California Climate Hub at UC Davis. Pete has a B.S. in Forestry and Conservation from UC Berkeley, a M.S. in Wildland Resource Science also from UC Berkeley and a PhD in Geography from UC Santa Barbara.
