Jake Cecala

Jake Cecala is an ORISE Fellow based in Riverside, California working on a project investigating climate adaptation and mitigation issues in California urban forestry. The project is a collaboration between the USDA Forest Service Pacific Southwest Research Station and the USDA California Climate Hub. Prior to this position, he completed a USDA-NIFA Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Entomology & Nematology Department at UC Davis. He received his Ph.D. in Entomology from UC Riverside in 2021, in which he investigated ecological interactions between ornamental plants and wild bee species in commercial plant nurseries across southern California. He also received his M.S. and B.S. in Biology from Cal Poly Pomona. In his free time, he enjoys video games, spending time outside, and going into Wikipedia spirals.
