Aviv Karasov-Olson joined the California Climate Hub as a Fellow in November 2023.
Aviv recently earned her doctorate in ecology from the University of California, Davis. Her experience lies at the intersection of social-ecological systems, climate change adaptation, and conservation planning. Within the realm of conservation social science, her research focused on the role of collaboration in the management of migratory waterfowl, identifying pathways where collaboration can lead to successful management, and evaluating the connection between management networks and ecological systems. Aviv also has worked extensively on the topic conservation introductions, facilitating workshops and developing decision support tools.
Aviv has a strong interest in working with partners and stakeholders to incorporate climate adaptation into management decision processes, which she brings to her work with the Climate Hub. In her current role, she will work with partners to develop support tools for forest management and climate-informed reforestation efforts throughout the state.
